Newborn Session Details and Tips
For newborn sessions I can customize the colors and themes to match your nursery. So your newborn pictures will be perfectly crafted to become stunning wall art for your nursery. If you're interested in this, start by telling me what colors you're using in your nursery. Or a theme - for example, I've done a Cat in the Hat themed shoot to match one little boy's room.

If possible, come to the session with a hungry baby and feed them at my house. That way, we can jump right into pictures when they're at their sleepiest and most content. We'll likely pause mid-session for another feeding whenever our model starts getting cranky. I'm all about keeping baby and parents comfortable, so plan to settle in for a while. I suggest parents wear matching, mostly solid colored shirts to the session. These make for great family shots.

I am a bit of a photo prop addict. So, bring any props that your pregnancy hormones fell in love with. Or, we'll use mine... I have plenty. Let me know in advance if you have a particular prop or color scheme in mind, it'll help me get the studio set up before your arrival.

Studio or Outdoor session?

We can take pictures in my studio or outdoors if you prefer. Indoor and outdoor shoots are each good for different things:
-
Studio pictures are great for getting extremely high quality pictures because the lighting can be made perfect. I recommend studio pictures for milestone photography sessions such as 6 month sessions and Smash cake 1st birthday sessions. They also lend themselves to creative pictures and that represent the personality of the child or family. Examples you can see in my blog include a pancake themed shoot, a reflecting pool shoot, and Easter bunny baby picture shoot.
-
Pictures of kids outdoors are very classic. They're great for seasonal pictures, like photography for your Christmas card. For outdoor photography, we'll want to schedule the session close to sunrise or sunset for the best light.
What to wear?
If family or sibling pictures are in the works, I recommend mostly solid colored clothes--patterned clothing distracts from your darling kiddo. Clothes don't need to match exactly, but should be in the same color family.
